Behold the beauty of the HIGHLANDS of northern Oaxaca's Sierra Norte region. You will be amazed by the stunning MOUNTAIN VIEWS and witness the lifestyle of an INDIGENOUS mountain village, which is part of the pueblos MANCOMUNADOS, located at 3,200 meters above sea level. Fully guided in both ENGLISH and Spanish. We'll meet downtown Oaxaca to begin our journey to one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL villages in the mountains of Oaxaca, CUAJILOMOYAS (1:30 hr drive / 60 km). We'll have breakfast (Memelas & coffee) at a local eatery in the mountains before the hike. Then, we'll begin the hike into the CLOUD forest where we will see a lot of local plants like ferns, stunning GIANT agaves, wildflowers, pine trees, oaks, wild MUSHROOMS (in rain season) and many more. We'll hike through gorgeous forest trails, pass a crevasse, hike along impressive tall rock walls, and enjoy the amazing views of the valley at the VIEW POINTS. The views here are just incredible! (Distance: 8+ km / 5 miles total. Hike time: 3:30 hrs approx.) After the hike, we'll cross a 100+ meter long suspension BRIDGE (optional activity), walk around the indigenous village and finish off with a delicious lunch at a local familiy eatery to try authentic home-made mountain cuisine.
